Free camping and shelters in Denmark
Denmark's answer to free camping is not a loophole in the law, it is a network of purpose-built wooden shelters in public forests, most of them free, many of them bookable, and almost all of them invisible to English-language search.
A Danish shelter is a three-sided wooden lean-to, open at the front, usually with a raised sleeping platform and a fire pit nearby. They sit in state forests and on municipal land. Some are first come first served and free. Some are booked in advance through the state’s own booking system, sometimes for a small fee.
This is a different proposition from a French aire. A shelter is for people on foot or on a bicycle, and it is a place to sleep rather than a place to park.

Officially designated shelters and free campsites from open data. Where a shelter needs booking, that is a fact about the place and belongs on its page, so we would rather leave a page unwritten than publish one that implies you can just turn up.
